One of those important parent days

Postby ozzy72 » Sun Aug 22, 2010 1:47 pm

As some of you may know I'm lurking in Hungary for a couple of weeks so the little people can have their birthdays with grandma and granddad (as my mum buggered off to Australia for 3 weeks ::)).
Today we went to a outdoor swimming pool/thermal spa not far from where we live. After having a good soak in the thermal waters I convinced Mini-mod to try swimming in the big pool with her armbands. After a couple of lengths with support (t'was a half-Olympic pool) we started doing widths till suddenly dad took his hand away and off she went solo with the armbands! A big step.
Then a mere 90 mins of non-stop swimming later she decided to go "Solo, solo" :o Armbands off and she went at the water like a Stuka (we'll work on the diving) on a Radar mast! Not far as she was knackered but she cracked swimming today.
Needless to say we'll be doing a lot more swimming together.
I've got "Proud Dad" written all over me as I taught her when the missus and the in-laws were having kittens about me taking her in a pool that she couldn't put her feet down in. Dad knows best.... mind you I was a crackin' swimmer from an early age. Good to know I've passed on that gene 8-)

It would be a proud moment, I'm sure.. congrats. Being able to swim is more important than most people realize.  ;)

It is when you live on a small island (e.g. Blighty) and someone pulls the plug out ;D ;D ;D

Yup Ozzy, one proud moment. I now have to keep an eye on Ex-Pat junior.......he seems to think he is Mark Spits now, but those new found abilities are not quite up to standard yet

Well done to father and Mini-mod... :)

Very important to know how to swim, read the sky for weather, have some bush and city survival skills and to respect others.

I am sure Mini-mod will thank you and make you proud in many many other ways Mark during her next few years.... ;D

I would just love to be there when she brings home her first boyfriend...OOOOOHHHHH   MYYYYY.... ;D

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Calm down Mark. You have time to prepare for that event; purchase shotgun and shells, etc. ::)

Just think about how much fun Mini-mod is having, now that she can swim. Lot's of people never learned how. It is quite an accomplishment.

I have a selection of large bladed weapons, from Fairburn & Sykes fighting knife through to Golock.
I've got a couple of pistols, silenced Webley and a Beretta M92F. Plus lots and lots of ammo.
I've also got some grenades and worst of all some kitchen implements that rely upon electricity [smiley=evil.gif]
Actually if I want to go all out I'll just borrow some of father-in-laws guns, he has enough to give a Texan a hard-on ;D ;D ;D

On the doorstep? You're talking to a man who considers using a bar mine to go through a wall a subtle entrance ;) ;D

Our Charlie (Charlotte.. remember me as charlottesdad all those years ago?? ;) ) goes to big school in 2 weeks... and swimming is part of the curriculum. So, with this in mind, a few weeks ago we decided to take her & Nathan for their first swims (together.. Charlie went as a 1 year old a few times.. and hated it). They both took to it like a duck to water, pardon the pun, although they're yet to swim without armbands it won't be long. I've always been a strong swimmer, so has the wife, so we're confident they'll pick it up in no time.

Proud Dad No. 2 here.
