Yeap!, those were the days, when you could go out on a Friday or Saturday night to the drive-in, then get a burger after the movie, drive around till dawn with your friends, all for around 10 bucks. Relax on Sunday, watch Wild Kingdom, like the ol'song goes, "Those were the days my friends, we hoped they never end".

[quote][color=#000000]Old, very old. I remember every single one. Red Skelton was one of best ever. I have two of his videos. He never failed to bring a smile to my face.
And I wanted both an Erector Set and Lincoln Logs, but never got either. And I probably could not afford one in mint condition now.

Drive-in Movies: Oh where do I start? Saw a few John Wayne movies, including "True Grit", "Support Your Local Sheriff" with James Garner, Herbie the Love Bug Movies, The Poseidon Adventure (the original), and get this, I actually remember watching "Love Story" on the big screen.

I remember well all but about two of them. I don't recall ever seeing any Burma-Shave signs. I don't recall ever going to a MacDonalds until coming back from Italy in 1973-- had never seen one until then. The rest of them-- yeah. I'm 52. I enjoy American history from the Revolution right up to the days of Reagan. We kind of went to hell after that. 1993 to 2001 were really bad days. 2009 to present is worse...

Hell I'm only 27 and remember some of those things, although being from Mississippi we were a little backwards.  Cheapest gas I ever remember buying was 69 cents a gallon, which would be nice when I have to fill my 30 gallon tank in my truck.

High school days - class of '55, drivein movies - always a challenge to get one of us in free - riding in the trunk.

If this don't date me, nothing will. I remember watching "Gone With The Wind" (1939) with my parents at the drive-in. Drive-in Theatres were first introduced in Virginia in 1939 and had playgrounds for children in front of the screen. We saw "Gone With The Wind" in the early 1950's.

I even went to the premier of Cecil B. Demille's "The Ten Commandments (1956)" and still have the program that they handed out to all those that attended it. The booklet is at least 8.5" X 14" if memory serves me correct. I'd have to dig it out to verify it.

The first movie I think I remember was 'Bamby(i)' at the Regal Cinema in Edinburgh '43 or '44.

The time length for that movie (looking up) is 220 minutes. Did they have intermissions back then?

I seem to remember one drive-in having a playground in the front for us restless kids.

The first movie I went to see was at a walk-in. My parents took me to see Strategic Air Command with Jimmy Stewart and June Allison. I was probably six, because I'm pretty sure it was summer and I did not turn seven until September.

The Ten Commandments movie was at a normal walk-in theatre. I was only 6 years old at the time, so my memory is a bit sketchy. I've seen the movie since and I think the one that played on the TV had an intermission.... :-/

If I recall the first one correctly...lol...I sleep through most of it. At 6, things like this aren't high on the priority list..... ;)
