What do you think of the newly released Google layout?

I personally don't like it. It was fine the way it was.

That's weird, Google has looked like that for me for a couple of months. :-?

Why take away the ability to toggle the sidebar open and closed, and force it always open?

The sidebar is useless on the web search pages because the same links are at the top of the page.  I deleted the whole thing with some custom css.

I sometimes used the sidebar options on image pages but I hate having it always open.  I'm hoping a javascript or css guru will figure out a way to toggle it.

I liked the simple, plane, old google! When I want a search engine, I like to type something in, find results, close the tab.

It seems like everytime they change these big websites, mostly google, noone ends up liking it. I think the old logo was better than the new one that they showed in that article.
