Historically speaking; yes, your quite correct

For those men and women that fought in that war and others.....the memories can't just be turned off....so war continues for them for the rest of their lives.

I suspect that is true for anyone who has been in any war or battle conditions; but possibly more so for some. I still think the general population owes an apology to Vietnam vets. They should have taken it out on the politicians, NOT the members of the military. I'll hush now before I get really mad and get on my soapbox.

There was a military draft on... those drafted went where they were ordered, not on a safari, not of their choosing. Only yesterday I was reminded of a former gunboat (heli) marine I knew who couldn't cope; what the bullets didn't do, the memories and alcohol did.
