Just to throw more confusion into the mix LED TVs are the way to go much clearer and sharper than either plasma or LCD.

http://www.ledtvprices.com/

The above site is for the UK ...... although I'm sure you'll find a Canadian equivalent.

My wife has an LED screen on her laptop ......... the clarity of the images on it is amazing.

To make it less confusing, these "LED TVs" are not true LED (light-emitting diode) displays, they are LCDs with LED backlighting.

Light-emitting diodes are still a bit too large and inefficient for use in that kind of display matrix.

Unless it is one of those 10' x 8' models? ::)

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

I was wondering if there is a rule of thumb on how far back one should sit from a certain sized television?

Now I started to wear reading glasses in my 70s and likewise the old girl.
Neither of us wear glasses to drive but we use them to read maps when we fly.

Apparently some people have created a guide to work out how far to sit away

Personally, I'd say 'where ever feels best'.

Good evening... :)

Thanks for the "Link" machineman9, there is some interesting information there.

I am going to do some measuring just to see how close we are to what they suggest.  I believe we are fairly close but tomorrow will do an actual measurement.

I think the picture quality is very good but that can also be personal preference. One thing though i have foxtel (pay TV) and its only on standed definition so fairly bad but oh well :D
