okay, by now everyone has heard about the devastating earthquake in Haiti, so I'm here to make say this: We as people have a job to our fellow human beings, so donate money to help out the people of Haiti, after all it sucks to not take action when you know you could've done something great in your life, and you wake up the next day and about an extra $100,000,000 dollars in their country is lost and you have the knowledge you could've done something about it. so help them to rebuild their infrastructure by donating some money, it dosen't have to be a lot after all a little bit sure goes a long way in the end.

that's all I have to say.

Time to donate the proceeds from the sale of your new "Country Red-neck" song, to the collection?

As taxpayers most of us have already donated when our various governments have pledged to give aide.
Getting your donations to the people and not to the crooks would be my main concern. So I have donated to the Red Cross, small donation, but I did it out of compassion.  :)

On the Colbert Report Thursday night the Red Cross offered a way to donate through texting.  A very good idea if you ask me for all those who regularly use text messaging.  Text the word HAITI to 90999 to donate $10 to the American Red Cross (your phone bill will be charged).

Send more bulldozers.

Rebuilding Haiti is like rebuilding Somalia.

The government will steal 90% of the aid and prop up buildings that will collapse in the next hurricane.

I guess no one heard there was a 6.5 earthquake last week in San Francisco.

Buildings didn't collapse.

Thousands of people didn't die.

Foreign countries didn't send millions of dollars of aid.

Why?

Because California has building codes.

Dumb assed corrupt third world countries don't have building codes.

Do you know what happens when a 6.5 earthquake hits a dumb assed corrupt third world country?

Buildings fall down.

Dumb assed corrupt third world governments then beg for international aid, steal most of it.

Everything is rebuilt to the same standards (at 10x real cost because of government theft) so they will collapse in the next hurricane.

Repeat as necessary.

do you always kick people when they're down? how about at least showing some sympathy for these people... yea they should have better codes, but where's the money to build stronger buildings when they're the poorest country in the western hemisphere?

Why is Haiti the poorest country in the western hemisphere?

I don't want to kick them.  I want them to become prosperous.  I want to get rid of their culture of corruption.

Giving money to Haiti is like giving money to a junkie and hoping he will spend it on food.

Personally I think that all celebrities should donate at least 500k(and athletes) think about it, even 250k each would bring a lot of money.
And where did this $100 mil come from the US gave?
They do not have enough money to pay all teachers in Ga. They had to start furloughing. Some schools are getting an extra 3 days no pay off. Plus rumors around in my county they will be stopping elementary band and arts soon, then maybe higher up if need be.
Yet they still teach foreign lanuages in middle school, when two years in middle, count for one year in high school... But you still have to take 2 years in high school
(2 years is required no matter who you are(so they go up to three, other to 2(plus my teachers said they really never notice ANY 9th graders in their rosters who are in their second year)))

Wichita,

Send money.  I don't care where you send it.  It will probably do some good and make you feel good.  Of course you will only send it once.

I send money to Haitians every day.  It's called taxes.  There are about a million or so Haitians in South Florida that have AIDS but don't have jobs.  They are drug dealers, pimps, prostitutes, every sort of scum you could imagine.  They don't want to learn English - they expect us to learn Creole.

So if you want to help them out fly a few of them to Wichita.

Easy now folks, it's tragic what happened but let's avoid flaring up tempers here at SimV.

Information on how to donate is good...reasons for donating or not donating will result in a flare up...which will result in a thread getting locked.

Everyone has their opinion and reasons for donating or not donating, and not everyone will agree on that.  It's a difference of opinion and everyone has that right, but lets try to keep it friendly and civil here at SimV!!

Yeah guys, let's take it down a notch...
We all have our opinions about other nations, races & religions. What happened in Haiti is terrible and that is what is being discussed here... Thanks...
