Simviation

Postby Flying Trucker » Tue Feb 16, 2010 10:08 am

Goodly morning all... :)

I woke up in the middle of the night thinking about this so I just had to ask and post.   :)

Question:
Has Simviation ever had a booth or presence at the EAA Air Venture at Oshkosh Wisconsin in the United States of America?

Question:
Pete has this idea ever been discussed or thought about?

It has been some time we have been to the EAA Air Venture at Oshkosh Wisconsin.

http://www.airventure.org/

I do not remember seeing any of the Payware Companies there and I was not into simulated aviation at that time but what a privilege it would be for a Payware Company to allow Simviation to demonstrate their products by allowing Simviation partial use of their booth.

Several good things could come out of this:
(1) Payware products would be demonstrated
(2) Excellent chance for a Simviation Membership gathering
(3) A chance to educate the public about simulated aviation
(4) A great holiday
(5) You could all buy me a wobbly pop because I am a
      wonderful person... ;D

Read #5 twice folks....very important    ;D

Just a thought Pete and perhaps if you were interested it could be discussed by yourself and the moderators before a post from yourself asking for opinions were posted.

Again just a thought I had and perhaps a few members have had the same idea.   :)

From what I have gathered in the past, the exorbitant cost of renting space, however small, at an Exhibition, has prevented even the major manufacturers, suppliers, etc, from appearing.

Its a bit like Television advertising...it costs a LOT of money!

When I was there in '05 there were a lot of flight simulation companies. Mostly they were the super expensive professional training sims. Microsoft had a huge booth too with computers so people could try FS9, which was still relatively new at the time.

It would be costly, not including the travel/acommodations costs... but I have though of making a SimV T-shirt, at least, to wear when I'm at Airventure.

I'm definitely going this year (big DC-3 roundup, being billed as "the last gathering"; can't miss that)... if any other members are going too, maybe we get some shirts made. Heck, I'll even get a banner made to put on my tent.

I really want to go this year.  I have been telling myself that I would since I got my license

I know this isn't strictly relevant to Doug's post but didn't one of our members here in the UK regularly have a flightsim stall at Airshows? I think the member was Town? Or Town of hgate?
Someone refresh my memory and confirm this please.

Good morning all... :)

It might be a little early yet to start a new post as I think most folks take their holidays in June, July and August.

With us I can not make a commitment as to whether we will be in Oshkosh this year or not.

I would like the shirt idea but more along the lines of a shirt with a collar. Like a golf shirt or similar. Shipping would be a hassle but Pete would have to approve first. If he did, I would do 200 shirts and send them out. Simv would collect the orders and cash, I would ship and give Pete my shipping receipts and cost of shirts for reimbursement after the orders were filled and members are satisfied. Totally me going out on a limb financially not you, not Simv. But we would have our shirts to wear at air shows and airports.
What do you think?

That's your reason? You could do that by flying anywhere. You're not one of those people who needs an excuse to go to Airventure, are you?   ;)  ;D
