I suspect these are RAF pilots on exchange schemes. I don't think that's quite the same as being members of the USAF.

I know Doug, but I was just using it as an example of officers serving the US forces in a very high profile capacity who aren't Americans.

That brings up another point. I assume that these exchange officers are British citizens & members of the RAF with their salaries paid by the British government. The question is; where would their loyalties lie if the units they're attached to were involved in actions against the interests of the UK?
