Renunciation of citizenship??

its not that im unwilling its just that its a HUGE choice to make, i will do anything to reach my goal but yer its a tough decision

Well, bottom line, the USAF already have plenty of pilot candidates who are natural born US Citizens with unquestioned loyalty to their country. You are not one of them, so if you want a pilot slot, you sure as hell better have a whole lotta of something else.

And to be frank, if I was the DoD employee reviewing your case, I would not grant you the commission.

ok thanks for your support...i had many people say i wont get there and stuff like that and to me it sounds like your one of them against me..... oh well your loss i dont want to start any fights.

Take it however you want. Pilot slots are extremely competitive for Americans, and damn near impossible for foreigners. I find it rather amusing that you consider it to be more long the lines of a coin toss. You have to show the air force that you can be trusted with a 60-120 million dollar top secret machine and that you have the potential to justify the 3 million they'll spend to train you. I don't think you realize the challenge that's in front of you, and I doubt you even want it that much.

So if you truly want to fly for the USAF, you can start by dropping the chickenshit. Like I said before, after reading your demeanor in this thread, I wouldn't even give you an officer's commission, let alone an aircraft.

Leigh, I don't think Jeff is trying tell you that aren't going to get there, rather that it will be very tough to get there and that it may not be worth it if you intend to return to Australia.

Besides, you stated that you'll do anything to get what you want - so losing citizenship here shouldn't be a problem, eh?

You won't leave anyone behind, that's why we have passports.  Pursue your dream, the military is very good at working with everyone.  You want to be a pilot in the USAF, then get in there and show them what you got. 

It's equal oppurtunity here, yeah you could lose your citizenship but you can still travel to your homeland, and once you finish your career go back to beng a citizen in your homeland. 

While you are an active duty pilot in the USAF you aren't going to be seeing much of home anyway, so that citizenship issue isn't going to be a problem for you.   ;)

well i am a Full us citizen with social security number ect...or well thats what ive been told hehe but im starting my last year of school tomorrow so i thought its better to get the ball rolling early then waiting.

But im still going to try my hardest and see how far that gets me

I'm curious to know if your enthusiasm for "Aeroplanes" came before, or after discovering the Microsoft Flight Simulator series?

Because, I wonder how many schoolboy "Train Simulator" enthusiasts actually get around to driving Locomotives when they grow up....
...or suddenly find themselves married, with a growing family, and the necessity of having to find any local job to support them!

Its amazing how life can change for the better or worse over a short period of time, especially during teenage years!
