Ridiculous (snow)

Theres like not even 2 inches of snow on the ground. College was cancelled due to snow. Snow is supposed to continue for another 10 days. I have my first AS Level exam in 7 days and then another like 5 days after that. I am rather worried

There won't be any more snow...just the frozen version of the stuff that's already here ....I have an exam on Monday, and will walk in if necessary

Do they move the exams about if it is a snow day or do we still have to go in? I would be seriously annoyed if we miss a week of revision in college because of this. There's so much I need to ask the teachers to help me with

I just measured 10 inches of snow in my yard and we are supposed to get more over night. As far as I know the schools are closed around here.

The only thing I don't like about snow is driving in it around the idiots who don't know how to drive in snow even though it happens every year. If it were just me alone on the road I would be fine, I would even enjoy it. The sub zero temperatures on the other hand I can do without. That alone makes me want to move to the desert.

The schools dont want to close because they lose money.
(around here, at least.) Teachers union assures they still get paid through snow days, but the schools government support is based on x amount of money per student attendance. When liability levels get too high, each school makes its own call.
I have never been lucky enough to attend a school that does not own any snow removal equipment. Also our school busses are equiped with the more expensive snow tires and the blockheaters, so they will start, ON TIME!
But still, liabilities prevail, and my little rock throwing nieghbors get the odd day off.

It's the same here. Bread, milk, eggs, and candles. I think the idea is that one must live on French toast, eaten by candlelight, until the snow melts. Or something.

...I've got 3 crumbs of Bread of varying sizes on my chopping board at the moment...(careful not to sneeze!)....

...and I cant make up my mind whether to eat them for Supper tonight...or save them for tomorrows Dinner....
...or ration myself to 1 crumb per day for the next 3 days... :-/...!

I just remembered that I have to work tomorrow and that reminds me of a peculiar thing that happens everytime that snow is predicted. By the way I'm STILL stuck stocking 7up, A&P license and all. Anyway, when the weather man utters the "S word" (snow) it seems that the entire city of Saint Joseph rushes out to Wal-Mart to buy every last 12 pack and 2 litre on the shelf! What the #&%$?! is every snow storm the end of the world? Are these people really afraid that thy will be marooned without their soda for so long that they just wont survive?

It does get pretty ridiculous, but then some people (myself included) who have to rely on buses to get to school/college often can't get there....my college is 20 miles from where I live, and the bus I take is a death trap at the best of times and in the best of conditions!  :-/

Well....we were back today and it was doable (if a bit slippy on the big hill leading to school.....it was walkable, but not driveable )

Can't wait for my exam on Monday if it snows again Sunday night

We never get any decent sun or heat. I really miss a French or Spanish summer.

It is almost a summer holiday in the UK compared to a few other places not that far away
