Ridiculous (snow)

Postby Mictheslik » Tue Jan 05, 2010 1:29 pm

A school near me has already announced it's closing because of the Forecast.......we have no snow whatsoever so far :P

There'll be a few red faces if we don't get the predicted 15cm :P

Hi Mic... :)

Good grief, they close a school for just 15cm of snow?  That is ridiculous.   :-X

Why in my day I carried an extra sandwhich in my brown bag to throw at the wolves who would follow us.  No school bus either, we walked in groups the four miles and it never hurt us once.  Rain, snow, sleet and hail we did not get out of going to school.

School bus rides make kids lazy, nothing wrong with a good walk several times a day.  I laugh at parents who worry about their little darlings being kidnapped.  Humbug.
If anyone had of taken one of our children we would have got a call from the kidnapper several hours later offering to pay us to take them back.   ;D

I just can't believe they would close down a school without a snowflake in the air.  ::)

I've just got in after a short visit to my local Tesco... anyone would think there's going to be a nuclear war. No milk, no bread, no vegetables.
What is it with the British public and panic buying?

(For the record I didn't need to go, I wanted to pick up some carrots for a stew.. that's out of the window now  >:( )

We have about an inch or so of snow and our school/college might be getting closed tomorrow.

The only dangerous bits are getting there and then it is fine. I won't complain if it means a lie in though  ;D

A day off tomorrow.  :)
But parents insisting I spend most of the day revising. Typical.

Haha, they forcast 15 cm and schools get closed...? ;D

It snows more than that and the schools just laugh at us, expecting us to come anyway

Sounds a lot like North Carolina! ;D The schools will close if we get ANY snow whatsoever. (No one here knows how to drive in the stuff.) And sometimes we get one or two hour delays if there is frost on the ground. ::)

A German friend of mine, her daughter goes to boarding school in the UK. She spoke to her mother yesterday and was amazed to hear that the school was closed due to 2cm of snow................The school you eat, sleep and learn at was closed ;D Also she was laughing, well like a school girl at this 2cm and the reaction of everyone to it. We have 15cm and I still drive to work ;D

Wow...closed over about 6 inches.  I wish our schools would have done that.  We were lucky if we even got a delay after a foot fell ::)

No longer have to worry about school...but non the less there is a winter storm watch out...expecting anywhere from 3-6 inches if not more tomorrow on top of the 4-5 inches already on the ground from the past couple weeks.  Don't know why they are calling it a possible storm...3-6 inches is laughable here :P
