I smoked once on the 4th of july when I scratched my head with a lit punk ;D.  Wasn't satisfying :P.

Quit 2 years ago when I realized my "pack a day" was closer to 2 packs a day.

A carton (1 week supply) is now $50 so I'm saving $215 a month, plus my health insurance premiums went down and my apartment doesn't stink.

Good evening all... :)

You have to want to quit smoking if you are going to stop smoking and to me that is all there is to it.

Like I said in the above post I will take out a pipe or buy a cigar but only on a special occasion.

I started the habit when I was 16...to many drunken party nights in high school since there was nothing better to do in this town.

I started smoking when I was 16, then started a pack-a-day habit after I got out of high school. Working in a garden center/nursery didn't help, as being outside all day and not dealing with customers unless on a delivery really meant that you could light up whenever you please and no one would mind. I managed to put them down cold turkey for the month prior to me shipping to navy boot camp, but after the news came down that I couldn't go just yet, I started back up again, a pack and a half if not more a day. I'm down again to a little less than a pack a day, as I got a cubicle job for the time being and can only go out twice a day for a smoke. However when I get home, I light up just about whenever I get the inkling. Also, I just can't resist a good, after-dinner smoke. :)

I still look at it as the single worst decision I've made in my short life. Hopefully I can cut it out again before I get to boot camp once again (July 27). Until then, it's just that same monkey on my back...

Regarding the prices, I feel kinda silly calling to mind when it was "only" $5 a pack. I just got in from work and picked up a pack of Parliaments at $10.45 :o :-[

At least a pack of matches are still free... ;)

:o Holy crap! And I thought $5 a pack was bad. Parliaments are usually cheaper than all the rest around here too.

I've contemplated quitting, but I'm not really ready yet. For one I still live with my Dad who is a heavy smoker and despite being a very intelligent person he believes that smoking isn't harmful. :-? Anyway I know how I am and I already know that being around cigarette smoke all the time will just make it harder for me to quit. I only moved back in here so that I could go to school full time, and now that I've graduated I'm looking for a real job. Once I get that and move into my own place I'll think about quitting again.
