This is a difficult thread to digest... I totally missed it yesterday.
Crash's link doesn't help -- much counter-ignorance and misconceptions in its forum discourse, no matter which viewpoint.
Sadly, all nations began with the manipulation of anger, discrimination, religion (even atheism has been religiously promoted) and violence.
This particular incident, at this time, seems nothing directly due to a political or religious vendetta.
Our forum members here have more calmly given condolences to those directly involved; that is good.
Extend that to the shooters family -- even to him... he is truly lost and can never change what he's done... ever, only his attitude towards it.

I'd normally go to the Humour forum now but I can't... I'm still wiping my tears...

..the trouble is...the World is full of "Fruit Cases", (as I call them), whether Military, Civilian, or School Children, for various reasons...

...and we can only suffer the consequence of their activities...!

It would be nice if we could identify them in advance, for everyone's safety.....but that never happens in practice...

A sad day for the victims and their families...again....as usual....

Paul.

Personally, since this is an act of treason against the United States of America, this should deserve the Death Penalty. Here are some charges I think would be assessed

12 counts of 1st or 2nd degree murder
12 counts voluntary manslaughter
45 counts of assault with a deadly weapon

In the end, this man will serve either life in prison or get the death penalty. But to do this because he got teased was just a joke, you don't shoot 40 people because you got called a name by one. Even that, you shouldn't even say anything back. This could have been avoided.

I still believe it was premeditated.

The guy was a psychiatrist who did counselling on PTSD sufferers and was to be sent there where his clients came from.

The media blew this one up to such proportions that some nasty fallout is almost unavoidable

The only information that anyone outside the small circle of people privy to actual events and real forensics has is the stuff we've gotten via the media and the "talking heads".
