Sounds great, but keep in mind that this does not guarantee a new flightsim from them. They mentioned expanding their horizons into other realms. While a new FS from what is essentially the same former Microsoft team would be fantastic, we cannot be sure yet.

Also, take note that FS addon publisher and creator Aerosoft is beginning to venture into the realm of creating a stand alone flight simulator as well.

Hopefully at least one of these groups will turn out a great new product in the next few years, but until we get an official confirmation from either source that they intend on seeing an FS project through to publication, the future of an FS in the same or similar style of the Microsoft series is still questionable. (As far as I know, Aerosoft is still at the drawing board stage, and setting up funds. No guarantees yet that they can or will be able to accomplish their goal of publication in a few years, but we can hope!)

No doubt they will come up with something good but this Quote from the article isn't very promising.

I doubt they would use the title Flight simulator so I see no issues with copyright.   8-)

Sounds promising! Though I highly doubt a Hiking simulator would sell very well  ;D ;)

Sounds promising. Not that I need a new Flightsimulator yet (still very happy with FS9) but it's good news for developments in the future.

Fozzer: fishyenterprises.com? Isn't that a part of Free Money Ltd.?

This seems to be just 2 people from Aces .... so that's hardly any surprise.

The fact that they are talking 'game talk' also indicates a completely different direction from true Flight Simulation.

MSFS is an evolution, built over more than 20 years -- probably millions of man hours of building -- the platform would take an unrealistic sum to build again from scratch unless somebody utilised something like Google Earth or the existing FS virtual world.

Let's just wait and see ----  but I am guessing an on-line (pay to 'play') live platform from MS -- rather than a stand alone downloadable product.

There will probably be a few others who develop new sims -- as there are now and have been -- but I am guessing MS will eventually again dominate this market with a different and very controlled platform.
Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. – Leonardo da Vinci

Reading the article I was thinking about something similar to the "all vehicle sim" - an open game environment that gives you differnent possibilities for using it.
