What's in YOUR piggy bank?

Here I am, near retirement age, and nowhere near ready. A series of unfortunate events in the last decade were beyond my control,but a few of them could have been if I had a different mindset years ago. I read this article today..

I am probably the youngest guy at working thinking about this.

If I set $5,000USD aside for the next 25-30yrs, I will retire with $1.6Millian dollars.

My piggy bank looks like a big baseball our 50cent coin don't fit in it so I have a little stack next to it

See I don't keep my money.  I put it in the bank so I can invest it in my pilot training and stocks(bought 200 in IP @$5.00 each $15 now) 8-)

$5,000 a year for 30 years will be worth $150,000.

Maybe a little more with the whopping 1% interest rate most banks are offering.

I still have some bonds paying 4% and I'm thrilled to have them.

ive got a jam jar sitting next to my computer and when ever i see moeny it goes in there. I ducted taped it so i couldnt open it, I couldnt open it to start with but yer

i also found $11 in 1 and 2 cent peices the other day, off to the bank i go

Whenever I use cash, whatever change I keep it goes into my piggy bank. I rarely use cash though

Every month I put aside most of my earnings (after bills) to a savings account for pilot training next year (fear of too many private loans held me back this year).

By the time I start my career, I want to have at least $5,000 in the bank for retirement... we'll see how that goes

..I got as far as imagining I was a Tree, and then fell asleep..ZZZZzzzz.....

I was never able, in the whole of my working life, to accumulate sufficient, (read "any") money to fund my own personal Retirement Pension!

You don't need piggy banks, just put your wife in charge of the money side of things.......trust me.........this computer is my only joy in life :-/

To coin one of Fozzers favorites, "trust me"!
I've had 3 other ladies say that, and at the end of the day, I end up taking the garbage to the curb, mowing the lawn, and worst of all is coming home from the pub, and hearing ... "We need to talk"
I got lucky, this time, with #4. I still have to do the above duties, this time I smile when I trim the grass and take the garbage to the curb.
(This should factor in to why I can't retire, at least, I am happy now)
