4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
A small splash of vanilla extract and your favourite tipple
1 large coffee mug

Add dry ingredients to your largest mug and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (if using), vanilla extract and a drop or two of your favourite tipple, then mix again.

Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts (high).
The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!

Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.

EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).

Is there a non-microwaved version?

We've got gas stove and oven and that really does look yummy.

If I was Gordon Ramsey you'd hear me in Paul's thread criticising the angle of the lettuce on a plate or tell him off for using a millilitre too much gravy!

Just never used one and I don't plan on it. I can taste the difference and I think there is much more fun in rescuing food about to burn from in the grill!

Shall give it a try soon!

4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
A small splash of vanilla extract and your favourite tipple
1 large coffee mug
I have to replace the sugar with a sugar substitute (I don't understand the term "artificial sweetener" for something that actually sweetens). However, the sample taste test reveals a very unsavory flavor. I'm wondering if it's the 3 tablespoons of oil, since you didn't specify; maybe my Quaker SAE30 is too strong?
However, I must report that even that little taste seems to have had some effect on the effects of our high-iron content water.

What's a tipple?

Like a small amount of an alcoholic drink. Probably more along the lines of liquor or something.

I often have a small tipple of port with my crackers  ;)
