Esselbach's right: that isn't a Texan thing, that's a military thing.  Ask anyone in the military what state is the greatest, and they'll rail long and hard about theirs, I guarantee.

Texas is a huge desert.

Actually we have everything from desert, to prairie land, to forests, to rivers & lakes, to coast lines, to hill & mountains.

Texas has two industries: cattle and oil.

There are three modes of transportation in Texas: horses, pickup trucks (with gun racks) and stretch limos with cow's horns on the front.

A typical stereotype response. We have all the same things the rest of the country has.

There are two kinds of music in Texas: country and western.

It's called H-town for a reason. Rap/R&B is a biggie there, plus ever heard of ZZ Top? Guess what, from Texas too. Many other popular rock bands from Texas as well. A simple Google search will show you this.

There are two things to drink in Texas: bourbon with branch water and Lone Star beer.

How about Shiner Bock? Probably one of the best beers ever made, right here in Texas!

There is one thing to eat in Texas: BBQ.

This is probably the best thing to eat here for sure!

I noticed while I was in New Hampshire back in the 1980's that they love to bash Massachusetts. Called them "Flatlanders", have no idea why.... :-/

Speaking as someone from NH  ;), the correct current term is "Taxachusetts".  

I think New Hampshire's "issues" with Massachusetts come from the fact that the southern part of the state has, in the last 30 years, actually become "Northern Massachusetts."  And what that has done is totally destroy the rural environment that everyone who moved here 30 + years ago came here to enjoy and what the longer term natives enjoyed all their lives.  

Additionally the influx of more urban accustomed population brought with them the demands for services and amenities that they had in the suburban settings in Massachusetts.  That fact helped push up real estate taxes through the roof.  For example, instead of the twice weeelky trips to the dump or recylcing center...... now there is garbage pickup.  Instead of small stores... there are Walmart and shopping malls.  And so on.

In some ways, I certainly can't talk  :-X .  I am one who migrated up here 34 years ago to get out ot the Boston area to someplace with some "space" and greenery.  But I came here wanting the rural lifestyle.... not to bring all of suburbia's and urban area's standards of living with me.  If I had wanted that.... I'd have stayed in Massachusetts.

Now all the farmland and other agricultural land is being subdivided and turned into 1/2 and 1 acre acre housing lots.  There are few farms left in New Hampshire.  Just not profitable enough, and the land values are going so high that the farmers cannot afford their taxes.  So they are forced to sell.

Anyway............ back to Texas.

[color=#003300]"Flatlanders" is a term more often applied by Mass visitors to NH. Massachusetts isn't flat but none of its hills reach a mile high.
