I love these pre-digital era sci-fi stories... I've been having endless fun reading all volumes of the John Carter of Mars novels by Edgar Rice Burroughs :D
Heres another one that i found. Called Profession. Is also very good, but isn't so short, took me over an hour to read . Has a very good ending though.
I've always loved Asimov's short fiction. His books (the Foundation series in particular) had great ideas, but his writing style has always been a bit plodding. Not to say that any of it was uninteresting, just slow reading. His short fiction, however, has always captured me. I guess because he dispenses with filling page after page with extra words and simply tells the story itself.
