Daylight Saving.

Postby packercolinl » Fri May 08, 2009 5:40 am

Shortly we,in Perth,West Australia,go to a referendum to determine whether we accept permanent daylight saving. This is an ongoing argument considering we really do have heaps of sunlight anyway,it's just how we use it. The business lobby wants to trade closer to our east coast state times, the health nuts want to run, ride, swim or whatever in the cool of the morning in daylight not dark.

I would like some views from forum members.

My interest is mainly in our American cousins viewpoint considering they have a similar geographic span.

How do you cope?

Is it an issue for personal reasons?

Don't hold back with your true feelings!

Spill your guts!! :)

Unless all Australian territories agree to Daylight Savings, it won't benefit anyone.  Air Traffic schedules will continue to be messed up because some territories do it while others don't.

Here's some additional reading on Daylight Savings:

Note that neither your age nor location in the World is given on your Avatar or Profile, the natural assumption is therefore that you live in the USA..."over there".... with differing Time Zones...;)...!

Paul...G-BPLF...Aged 75....and living in England, as detailed on my Avatar...and Profile...which makes inter communication between Members easy...;)...!

The question is, what benefit would you get from changing it? Some people are never happy unless they can change things that have worked perfectly well for years. When they finally get their way they'll find something else to concentrate on. I could never see the point of constantly messing people around just for the sake of it. ::)

I don't see the business argument at all. Before I retired I dealt regularly with customers & suppliers in different time zones all over the world. It's something you get used to & we never had a single problem with it. All we had at the time was phone & FAX. Should be even easier now with modern methods of communication.

I could be quite wrong Paul but I had the idea that Anxyous is somewhere in Europe.

Bad enough THEY have to screw with the time, but what's scaring me the most, is that THEY also wanna start screwing with the weather. Or should I say screw up the weather, or better yet, THEY just gotta screw things up any way, makes me wonder what's next, reversing the Earths rotation? ;D ;D ;D
