I know I'm probably going to regret asking Paul, but
why were the Colonies pink? :-?

When Paul & I were at school the British Empire was coloured pink on the world map.

Cigarettes should be $5.62 a pack.

I wish. NJ just increased the tobacco tax (again), so my pack of Parliaments cost $8.60.

We can't all live in 'H'ereford (fully aspirated H as per Professor Higgins) but the folks in Oregon seem to like it fine.  Since my big move, back in '53, I've lived in eight different states and found something to enjoy in each of them.
