And didn't surnames get their name from their profession?

This reminds of Mr Cox at a card game. His daughter entered the room and he said " Guys I'd like you to meet my daughter, Sophelia Cox"

Where my wife use to work they had a woman named "Catherine Dick". Well her father came by one day to pick her up to take her to lunch.

The company had a temp worker filling in as the receptionist/switchboard operator. She didn't know the personnel very well or their family members. She also wasn't very familiar with the switchboard or the intercom.

The temp accidentally hit the "General Intercom" that broadcast through the entire building, instead of the individual intercom for personal messages that would come across the phone speaker.

My wife said they all heard - Click - "Catherine, there's a Harry Dick waiting for you in the lobby."

Needless to say, the entire building erupted into laughter. ;)

LOL ;D

I've been to a few weddings in my time, including my own. If memory serves me right surnames aren't used.

The few I've been to here the weddings save last names till the end of the ceremony.
