For all of we Sinclair 48K Spectrum computer enthusiasts, we will recognise the Map Grid as being identical to the 1980's Computer game; "Mercenary: Escape from Targ"

You can fool most of the people...most of the time!... ;D... ;D... ;D...!

Paul...I still play the game on my Spectrum, and the PC Spectrum Emulator... 8-)...!

I really don't think you could find Atlantis using Google Earth the sonar mapped ocean floor just isn't detailed enough, if those trenches are on the ocean floor they would be hundreds of feet wide/deep. And if Atlantis did exist, it would be buried under hundreds of feet of sand.

...Just remember...we've only viewed about 7% of the ocean floor... ;)

In the article Google said it was an artifact from the mapping process.
False hopes: Google said the grid-like markings, thought to reveal the location of mythical underwater city Atlantis, are an artifact of its map making process.

Of course there could have been a city around 13,000 years ago, because the sea level would have been about 360 ft lower than it is today. Evidence has been found that ancient people came to the America's long before Ol' Christy Columbus.

While these people didn't have super advanced technology, it is possible for there to have been a civilization of sea-fairing people, who's cities became flooded by a "Great Flood". Since it is a fact, that the seas are higher today then 13,000ish years ago. And it is possible that the survivors of that flood came to Europe, where the story of their civilization was pasted down over a time period of a few thousand years. Plato probably wrote about their civilization several thousand years after any survivors had died. And over the period since the 'Atlantians' first told about their civilization and when Plato wrote his book, some things probably where exaggerated.

After all Plato said that Atlantis was located outside what is today called the Strait of Gibraltar...so that only leaves the rest of the world... ;)

I owned one.  And also the original Sinclair ZX-81s....from kits.  Many of them.  Customized with all sorts of soldering-iron jockey stuff.

BTW, this 'city' is 80 miles across, with 9 mile wide 'city blocks'
Mexico City, which is one of the world's largest cities (in area), is roughly 25 miles across it's east/west axis...

maybe these 'atlantans' were big people
