How Long Does Data Stay In The Internet?

Simple question.


For example with you put in some sort of data like your name or screen name via Internet how long does the data float around in cyberspace.?

I read a piece once on search engines and doing a search on google stays in thier memory permanantly. Some other search engines dump after a given amount of time. I would bet once your on the internet, aside from search engines, you may be eternal.

From your question, you make it sound as if the internet is just a big puddle of data, floating around until it's called upon. Obviously, that's not the case. As vast as the net is, it's still just a point to point process. So i suppose it would all depend on what servers (points) your info is on.

What I want to know is this. Have you ever begun typing something, before you realized that the window you THOUGHT you were typing into wasn't active? So that, everything you had typed just wasn't there. Where do all those keystrokes go?

I sometimes find a few of my old webpages that shouldn't be there as they were deleted from the server long ago. I have no idea where they are but they still show up on search engines. Very clever this Internet.

Its bad enough when all the various Agencies in the Country know all about you. Now you can add to that, everything you ever posted on the Internet, both good and bad, for everyone in the World to see, and hear!... ...!

google keeps a very large cache of all the sites, thats why when you google something that has been deleted you can select cached at the bottom of all the info, and it will go into the page even though it was deleted.

google controls the internet  :o
