We sure will. I live near Ypres and the Yzer-area, where a fierce trench-war was fought for years. One of the wordt area's to be in that period, as the world's first gas-attacks were carried out over those fields.

I've also been in the Somme area in France, another major front during the Great War. It makes you feel very humble beeing there and it's an overwhelming experience, when you see all those graveyards and memorials. It makes you realise that the soldier made the biggest sacrifice there is, in a war that should not have been...

After visiting Biggin Hill a couple of years ago, We took the long route home back to Germany and went via Flanders and the museum at Peronne. We also visited a couple of cemeteries. The whole thing certainly makes you see how insignificant things like your Ipod and mobile phone are. To think that a your day can be ruined if you forget either of them at home. A very sobering day out.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

Let's hope in the coming year as few as possible join the list to be remembered a year from now.

This should technically be in the history section but, maybe, it's better that it's not. I've found that not many are familiar with the line "In Flander's fields where poppies grow..." and even fewer relate it to the"war to end all wars." Armistice Day is noted on most of our calendars but the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month is most often next to unnoticed.
In truth, obviously, World War I did not end all wars but, rather, ended certain international relationships and escalated the technological means by which wars are fought. Relative to this website, it was the first war in which fixed-wing aircraft became a major part of the armament.

I wasn't sure where to post it either, I decided on GD because it was posted as a mark of respect for all servicemen & women, not as a historical (or political) topic.

Got the service tomorow at school. I helped with my ATC squadron yesterday. Cold, wet, but surpisingly not miserable. They gave the greatest for us, so I watched knowing that a little rain was nothing compared to the price they paid.

For our tomorrow, they gave their today.
