'If cigarettes keep going up in price, I'm going to quit.  A quarter a pack is ridiculous!

I said that at $1,$2,$3, and $4! ;D ;D ;D Now I'm waiting for $5 :-[
Sad part is, there for a while it was cheaper to buy a pack of smokes than it was to buy a gallon of gas, and I never said I would quit driving.
I've heard my father  say most of these, and now I'm using some of them too. :)

Back then there was No such thing as -

Unemployment insurance - It may not be much, but at least it's a small safety net for the short term.

FDIC insurance - Now guaranteed deposits up to $250,000.00

Social Security and Disability- back then you worked until you dropped dead. There really wasn't a "retirement", at least not by today's standards.

Yeah.... it sounds good "on paper" ,........ but the USA is already basically bankrupt..... we owe the rest of the world so much money that there is not enoough in the Treasurey to go around.

We'll see where this all goes.  :o  ::)  :P

If you stop and really look, the rest of the world owes the US. The US has forgiven debt to many countries. Most stemming from WWII and reconstruction. The US literally rebuilt the world at no charge.

Look at all the aide the US has "GIVEN" to almost EVERY country. These are some of the reasons why the US is in financial trouble. There are rich nations that you never hear about giving a dime in the time of crisi in the world. But the US is always there.

And what do we get in return? The blame for the financial crisis....Personally, I love watching the downward spiral ;D

The first sentence is a fairly close translation of one particular nation's announcement nearly
