I think it is one of those people that screams GET OFF MY LAWN!@$! ;D.

I have seen a lot of discussion concerning copyright etc. And from what i know one doesnt have to register to have a copyright or something alike, although its a bit of a gray area from what i have read.

The most basic form of copyright is via the post. You have new material. Send it to yourself via registered post and do not open it. The post has a record of the transaction and in the unopened parcel/letter so do you. But as I said it is a basic form and legal.

wow, that's good info!

Thanks for the post JB.

I don't think anyone has an issue with the guy in question having the copyright but rather his tone was what was inappropriate.

It isn't gray at all. The Berne Convention establishes that you do not need to file for, nor have a copyright notice visible on the document.

However, in US courts, in order to file for copyright infringement, you must first have a registered copyright.

There you are. Watch it. Next he might complain for messing with his words or something dumb like that.

Registered Trademarks are rather expensive legal propositions.

I think you're all missing the point. Whether this individual has legal copyright on the livery is immaterial. It's the tone of the 'request' to remove it that Pete is concerned with.

To be honest I can see no reason why anyone would want to upload an aircraft in virtual airline livery for general use, whether it's copyrighted or not - or why anyone would want to download it. I assume these files are available free of charge to members of a VA on their relevant websites.

Given the fact that 'Wayne B' can't even spell 'material', I somehow doubt he's got a copyright for his 'materal'.

Although that isn't the point of this thread, why couldn't he just have asked politely to have the file removed? That would've worked a lot better.

Probably some 12 year old kid with too much cola. This is rumoured to be actual video footage of him composing his PM to Pete:

I've seen that video many times, I think that's what happened when he found out about the "copyright infringement", that or he's just PMSing....

If only I was able to get so stressed about something so trivial. Mind you, must be tough running a multi million dollar VA in the current financial times... ;) ;D

I bet he's had to lay off virtual pilots, sell aircraft and everything. ::)
