The kind of stuff I sometimes have to put up with

Postby pete » Sat Oct 18, 2008 4:49 pm

Our hobby has a lot of good people .. but some who really need to realise this is not to be taken too seriously ...

The person in question runs a 'virtual airline' ......

Apparently someone uploaded a texture file of this VA  .. WOW How bad ... !!!  ;D

So I get this ....

Now if this was a clinical trial of a possible cure for type 1 diabetes & someone had publicly announced the latest findings of this trial ... then maybe I could understand the reaction.... but  .........  ::) ::)

I always knew yelling got more done then being polite!

Somehow I doubt his VA has a copyright anyway,  well no more so then any other REAL airline you can download the textures for on here, they never complain.

I think the sayings goes "You can please some of the people, some of the time, but you can't please all of the people, all of time."

Now I'm going to get sued for not giving credit to the people who said that... :-/ ;D

I just visited their site, and found this little button called "Request a Ban".... ;D

Don't get mad, get even. :P

I just searched the National Trademark and Copyright database(TESS) using every possible name they would have used and all searches came back negative.  They would have to be very dedicated to do this as it is VERY expensive to copyright or trademark anything. To get my bands name trademarked is going to cost $650 and a three month wait according to the TESS website. I think I will just hope that noone else wants to name their band 'Social Garbage'!(don't think I need to worry at all. :D ;))

I also looked at the above place for Patents and Trademarks.
There is a seperate office for copyrights. He used the little c in a circle to indicate a copyright.
The US Copyright Office has a site here:

http://cocatalog.loc.gov/cgi-bin/Pwebre ... PAGE=First

I found no reference to his name.  Granted that is only a search from 1978 to present. If he managed to create a virtual airline before that... I would really be impressed.

He quotes US code on his site.  So that means he must have registered in the US. I wonder if there is a legal risk to claiming a false copyright.

Further he needs to learn the words Cease and Desist...   not GET IT OFF....etc etc...

Why would someone write in upper case, then end the sentence in a dot dot dot. IT MAKES NO SENSE...

Actually, IP (intellectual property) doesn't need to be registered to hold a valid copyright (in the US anyway). All he would need to do in court is prove that he owns the IP, which is difficult, at best.

The trademark on the other hand... TM must be displayed, and I highly doubt that he actually has a trademark for it.

But yeah, he needs to learn how to be polite.

He needs to register and copyright his level of FAIL.  Then trademark it.

To take devils advocate, we are always against piracy and uploading of files with a don't upload ReadMe and for copyright. I find the the copyright angle of this thread rather amusing. However, this guy needs to get an education in communications skills. I wonder what he is like at work. As I have always said, it is easy to be the big man on the internet or by email, when in reality you are 45 years old, living with your parents, surfing deviant websites in the cellar, mouse in one hand and pausing every few second to push you glasses back up your nose ;D

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

I think it is one of those people that screams GET OFF MY LAWN!@$! ;D.

I have seen a lot of discussion concerning copyright etc. And from what i know one doesnt have to register to have a copyright or something alike, although its a bit of a gray area from what i have read.
