I have rank now.

In my JROTC unit, i have finally gained the rank of Private. Not much, but it makes me feel good. :)

An E-1 is the bottom pay grade in the US Army, It carries no stripe at all, but it often referred to as a private.


Ever heard it referred to as an "E I owe you one"...? lol ;D

I wanna join JROTC in my highschool but we dont have it but in college im looking to join NROTC  8-)

My friend got cadet 1st lieutenant today as well.

Hey, congratulations on your promotion!

I made it to E-6 in the Nuclear Navy at the 6 year point, and was in for 10 years total. Now I work in the Civil Service in the same program as a GS-10. Military service was a good choice for me. I hope that you are starting on a successful military career

Equivelent to an Airman Basic... as you say, the E1 designation is the pay grade, not the actual rank; it doesn't look good to have an E0. :P

You seem to have failed to notice from some of my postings that I served in the military. Since I didn't sign up for 6 years or have any college I started as E-1. But I was still refered to as "Airman Basic", or simply "Airman."
...or a "Slick Sleeve," soon to become a simple "Ping Wing."

Now back to my original question: What is lower than "Private"?
