Hurricane Ike

Well, he's almost here, and we have over 100 people at our school here already, I expect we won't have school tomorrow :S.

I swear, some of the people on the buses just freak me out  :o

Considering that this is being talked about as the Katrina of Texas, I'm surprised no one else has posted about it o.O

They just mentioned it on the radio here. Sounds pretty bad. Good Luck!

I'm not in the path, but we have all the evacuees here, and our school was officially cancelled at 5 AM today, after saying yesterday we wouldn't have school cancelled.

There are over 2000 evacuees in the high school + Middle school combined, and those are only activated after the Delco center is full, which holds at least 5,000 I know, but I'm pretty sure we have over 20,000 evacuees in our city, probably a lot more.

Also, you brits better be worried, as your gas prices will skyrocket if Ike is bad, as 5 refineries are in the predicted path, one of them is right in the path no matter what, and it's in Galveston, and these 5 plants go through over 1 billion barrels of oil a day.

We're here in our $800,000 house though, just playing Spore (my brother) and FS (Me, of course  :P).

Cheers all.

Also, I just caught 2 F-16's going above our house, with Texas Air National Guard markings on it, probably going to Lackland, and I've seen a few blackhawks, which is odd, since we never see anything of those.

This is truly a bad storm, and I probably make no sense, go figure.

XD.

I'll try to snap some pic's for ya'll whenever it happens! Some guy is at our lakehouse (My dad's friend and partner with his business, he lives in houston), and he's probably playing golf (Horshoe Bay).

Sorry I'm typing, but I just feel really inflicted right now, knowing I'm safe but so many people had to take government transportation to get to our city.

I live in San Antonio now and we are gettin' evacuees by the bus load (literally!) I have a grandmother in intensive care because of an open heart double bypass dual valve replacement surgery (or something crazy like that) in Galveston and if the power goes it she will not make it... :( Hope they have a backup power system. :-/

Ike should be coming in just about now. I mean the beginning. The remnants of two hurricanes this year blew all the way up to canada. Just a while back I ended up with 10 inches of water in my basement. Cant remember the name of it but it drenched the mid us region with major floods. good luck to you all in the next few days. :-X

600,000 evacuated, no school on Monday, Expected 10 bil in damage, and now over 2.5 billions of barrels a day are not going to be refined.

Gas hit 5.23$ in some parts of Galveston.

May all that chose to break the law and stay in their homes, as I have heard, have their homes in the morning.

We recently gave away around half of all our towels to the Middle School, and they were grateful :).

Also, Ike is as big as Texas now!  :o

Well, here in the panhandle of Florida, we arent getting too much in the way of wind/rain and such. But what we are getting is quite a bit of storm surge, and some quite big waves! Last I saw we were getting 8-12 foot surf locally. But the surge had closed several roads and businesses due to all the flooding.

Heres one of the latest images

My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.

I'm glad I live in South Florida.  We never see hurricanes here.

Katrina - A little rain.

Gustav - Some rain, 10% more than usual.

Ike - Didn't even rain.

Well it's 8am here in Hutto just NE of Austin Texas a little wind not bad at all and no rain not a drop :'(we need rain it's so dry :'(
We have black dirt old farm land and when it's wet you can't dig in it because it sticks to your shovel like glue :-/when it's dry it cracks so bad that the other day my 3yo son almost broke his leg in one of the cracks while he was playing in the yard, It was 19in deep 4in wide 13in long :o
I will deal with some high winds if that means we get some rain ::)
My prayers go out to every one in Ikes path
God Bless and good luck
Greg

No school on Monday confirmed already.

We got all the Ex-cons here, and yet they complain about the amount of stuff they receive, and they are FREE TO ROAM AROUND! Even though they aren't allowed to.

We currently have our gun by the front door because of them breaking the law and all our stuff is locked up.

Also, Galveston is in ruins for the most parts.

Gas is hitting 5.50$ a gallon in some parts of the coast, and you brits and anyone else should look into this, it's outrageous.

A fifth of US oil is being SUSPENDED as of now, so expect huge increasesin gas prices for the next week or two, since power is completely out in Galveston, and over 4 million in houston are without power.
