What I really hate is the fact that the BBC seem to have sent the majority of their employees halfway across the world to do what could easily be done from Britain (sit in studio discussing etc). An excellent use of licence payer's money.  ::)

Sorry but real athletes compete in the winter games.

Add to that, the winter sports are better (downhill skiing, ski jumping, luge), except for the ones created for the kiddies (snowboarding)

The only good summer sport IMHO is weightlifting.

Hold on, hold on...

Here's some real bad news. The football season has started. Now on the BBC we have 40 minutes of watching full time football (soccer) scores on telly, with dull reporters making up 2 minutes of drivel to talk about Accrington Stanley v Macclesfield Town. Dull dull dull! Now this isn't for two weeks every 4 year - this is every week 'til next May!

And I thought football (soccer) was a winter sport. It starts earlier every year.

I incorporated the coverage of that dreary sport into the over 16 hour statement.

They are both fine to participate in, or watch live in person, but on TV? No thanks.....

I watched the opeining ceremony when they do they parade of nationals and some jerk was holding a picture of saddam when Iraqs team walked in, but aside from that hope itll be a good olympics

A bit being the pertinent words! 40 minutes to watch the final scores come in is excessive, and always has been. Can't people wait a few minutes to hear the classifieds, or if they are that desperate, use the www or Ceefax/BBCi...

Back on topic, I'm not interested in the majority of the Olympic disciplines.. but I must admit I'll be up to watch Tom Daley in the diving Monday morning, I used to be a competition diver for my school and have always loved it.

Watching the replay of the long line of countries now. The lights and choreography was great not to mention the fireworks. The largest Olympics ever held.

About the fireworks.....
Yes they were great.
However, as I understand it,  the American fireworks company "Grucci" was responsible for that.  :)
