Well in Florida they did allow people to bring guns into amusement parks like Disney World. Nothing bigger than the game at the Disney Theme parks.


But on this issue I would only allow school staff such as District police and security to have lethal weapons.

Nah, I used to live miles from Disney and went a few times a year since I was little and they always checked your bags for weapons. One of the security gaurds brought a gun in or something...pssh noob lol

Ironically, quote, "using ammunition that is designed to minimize the risk of ricochet in school halls", means low velocity, soft ammunition. This sort of round causes the most damage. Also what happens when a teacher is jumped by a couple hoods he/she has just "dissed".
I am a gun owner, but I find this to be, well, lets just say somewhat an "American answer" to a problem that is not really present.

More teachers than my school, about 30 teachers, 300ish students but we do have two armed police officers who work at the school.

Well, yeah... you hold one hostage while you tell the other to listen up or he's/she's next. Then, if they get bold, you can shoot one of them before they can both get the jump on you.

The explanation seems to be that violence has unproportionally increased at the schools since the Federal ban was enforced, much of it from outside sources (non-students). The question arises, however, as to whether this is actually directly related to the ban, because our borders aren't properly maintained, the struggling economy or, most probably, a varied combination of these and other factors.

I haven't checked the current law in NH but it used to be that you only needed a permit to carry a concealed weapon; no permit was necessary, though, if the weapon were primarily exposed (that is, you could have a gun barrel shoved down your pants -- thus threatening your own anatomy -- or holstered with the rest exposed).

It's difficult to believe that only about 40 years ago the worst you needed to worry with was a fist fight with the school bully. It was that way clear in to the 70's. Then knives came into the classroom.

In my day we respected out teachers and school officials. We respected our parents and we respected the police. But above it all we respected and looked to a higher power.

That's as far as I'll venture into that or I'll break forum rules....

You know, after leaving the service. I was a lean mean fighting machine and had no fear of anyone. Especially a father that had abused me. He took great joy out of beating me. But even when I knew I could easily get vengeance on him and beat him to a pulp with little effort. I never attempted it, not out of fear, but out of respect. Even today, my mom and step father are extremely elderly and quite frail. When my mom teases me about she can still turn me over her knee, I still let her think she can, out of respect and love. Who knows, she just might do it....lmao

 Sorry Rom, but respect isn't taught any more. It's all just about getting Dick and Jane to pass the ISTEP.
 I imagine around 60% of all male students carried a pocket knife in my day. The school district  was in a farming community and everybody had a knife for utilitarion purposes. Nobody seemed to have a probelm with it as all, well most all, kids were taught proper civilized behavior well before having the privelage to own such a tool.

 OK, on the 2:1 Teacher/Student ratio. I went to a combined Jr/Sr High School in the 1970s. I just checked and there were a whopping 43 teachers for about 800 students. My class happened to be the largest of the time with 164 students. It tapered off to 152 at graduation.

Now, explain to me again why today's teachers say they are underpaid? I say Bollocks!
