Kind of reminds me of the episode of Family Guy when the FCC overeacts to a nude slip on live TV. They start to censor real life. Pretty funny actually. Not here though. If we had stopped at all the 'What Ifs' I would not be sitting in America because in 1492, Columbus would not have sailed the ocean blue, or men would not have gone into space or to the moon. I know it's just a slide, but it is the same concept.  8-)

as much as I despise health and safety, you also have to blame todays lawsuit happy world for this. It's the lawyers who have forced H&S upon us.

No conkers without eye protection
No standing up on buses (I still surf the last corner before my stop)
No using slides

Who called the fun police?

If one thinks their only goal in life is to make the world perfectly safe, they'll exit it as a total failure. It was never meant to be safe -- just look at the food chain or the means by which we came into existance.

Childhood itself is full of hazards, as we learn from our mistakes... let's ban it!! Or mandatory full padding and helmets until age 21!   ::)

I saw this the other day on the news, you can read about it here

Thats right.. instead of teaching our kids how to be safe and letting them take some risks so they learn not to live in fear and how to have fun and be safe at the same time, instead we teach them how to be afraid

As for the danger ... ehhhhh

I actually based a peice of Oral english coursework on this problem to do with the health and safety culture we live in. It seemed to go down well and they seemed to agree with me. I quoted the example of the conkers in schools, if i had known about this slide example at the time, i would have used it as well.

Its a complete and utter joke. I'm now off to have a beer, and to ride my pushbike(one of those ones without an engine - must be safer!!!. Sorry, did i say that? (BTW if HSE read this, i'm joking!! ::) ::) ::))
