STS-124, Discovery

I assume everyone will be watching the launch of STS-124, Discovery to the International Space Station (ISS) on Staurday at 5:02pm EDT.

My favorite orbiter, Discovery, will be delivering the Kibo Module, the largest module on the station. Along with the Japanese Remote Manipulator System, Kibo will complete the JAXA (Japan Areospace Exploration Agency) section of the station. Tune in to NASA TV a few hours early to watch the Astronauts board the orbiter. My day will be comprised of watching NASA TV all day, constantly checking the launch blog (I will post a link when it comes) hosted by NASA, and checking NASA.gov. This is my first launch on SimV that I have told you guys about, so I will post updates here as well.

Right now, +6 hours, so 23:00 and when you have to be up at 04:00, I am with mic..................well, not actually with him you understand

Ehhhh, I have followed a shuttle launch before (about 4:00AM)..had my shuttle checklist ready, and was following each pre-flight check through to countdown.

Not too special after the first time (now live footage of STS-114 landing at Edwards, is), better off watching it for real at Canaveral..  :)

Unfortunately, when NASA-TV switched from analog to digital satellite transmissins they decided not to broadcast in the format I use. I have two choices: Watch on the internet, or purchase a DVB Mpeg2/4 reciever and slave it to my satellite reciever.

I sometimes watch it on the internet. It's just fine. About 3 seconds behind though.

Oh, and that is a quote from an old Simpson's episode (>I< don't find shuttle launches boring...), in which NASA care more about TV ratings, than the logistics of the mission, therefore, they get an average American to fly on the shuttle as an attempt to get ratings back up...
