Tornado in SOCAL and wild weather

Postby a1 » Fri May 23, 2008 12:33 am

Yup a tornado right around Moreno Valley. Flipped and 18 wheeler and caused minor damage.

Massive thunder storms everywhere.

Hail in Baldwin Park the size of marbles and enough to make the ground a winter wounder land.

Lots of rain for my area with lots of thunder.

Flooding and mud slides up in the mountainous areas.

All new to me. :o

...mmm...glad I live in the UK then.....seen tv of idiots actually getting off on being in the centre of these weather storms...I just like a little warm sun on my back and gentle April showers  :P

Can't decide if the "Winter WOUNDER land" from the large hailstones was intended as a pun or not but it sounds appropriate anyway...commoner ;D

Funny you should mention that, Alex....

Yesterday, I filed a SOCAL Flight Plan from Santa Monica Airfield to San Bernardino Airfield, (and beyond), in my trusty Beech Baron 58, after downloading "Real Weather" and was immediately thrust into cloudy, poor visibility, very Low Pressure, extremely bumpy weather!....

A VERY uncomfortable flight, fighting with the controls all the way... :o...!

(Should have stayed on the ground!)... :-[...!

I don't know how realistic "Real Weather" is, but that event did seem to replicate your experiences on the day!.... :o...!

Moreno Valley is a few miles South of San Bernardino*

After that, Alex, I wonder if you will be treated to more "Wild Fires" again, this Summer?... Remember?... ;)...!

Paul....more SOCAL flights today... 8-)...!
