house hunting... creepy

Postby RitterKreuz » Sat Apr 19, 2008 8:45 pm

So the wife and I went house hunting today. (just as we did last weekend)

we are looking for a place in a Dallas suburb that will hopefully put me closer to my work, and will provide her with greater opportunities when she finally finishes her degree late this year.

we couldnt resist looking at this massive foreclosed home valued at about $200K but priced in the 130's

i kinda figured the place would be a wreck, but it wasn't that bad. It needed paint inside in a couple of rooms, and the carpet needed to be steam cleaned or completely replaced, but it was a huge house for a small house price.

one creepy thing that caught my eye however...

each of the children's bed rooms had those hotel style "door chains"  on the OUTSIDE of the doors. meaning they would serve only to keep a person locked INSIDE the room.  :-?

what the heck is up with that?!

Gives a new meaning to grounding your kids to their room, but if you ask me, locking your kids in their rooms is kind of a safety hazard, among other things.... ::)

We should have some of those locks here in SimV. Gives a new meaning to banning. ;D Also with some stretch racks and cages.

Ahh, the old 'door chains on the outside scam' - it's a great scam.

Basically you get a great big house & put in on the market at a knocked down price. Then when the new owners have paid up & moved in, you use your spare set of keys to sneak in at night & lock the whole family up in their own rooms.

You then proceed to starve them until they agree to sell the house back to you at a much reduced price.

A classic, we've got a house near Dallas that we do it with, lovely house, although it could do with some new carpets & a lick of paint here & there.

;)

ROTFLMAO ;D

Don't mind TSC. He doesn't know what he's talking about.

Dallas, that's Texas isn't it? And a chainlock on the outside of the door? Something with a chainsaw comes to mind....

Crash ;)

Lol this reminds me of the Zero Punctuation Review of Condemed 2 Bloodshot

"like the cerial killer that lives under your bed but is behind you right now but dont turn around cause that will really piss him off"

(way funnier on his review)
