Oddly enough.. the Supreme Court is hearing a 2nd Amendment argument right now. First time ever. Results are expected in June.

That should be an interesting read for us on this side of the Pond, who generally use a house brick to throw at next door Neighbours annoying Cat, rather than use a Colt '45 to achieve the desired result....;)..!

LOL...!

Paul... ;)...!

Charlton Heston.....Films = Good choice....NRA = Bad Choice!....;)...!

Nahh.. It was a good choice. Private gun ownership is a right he felt strongly about. A genuine war hero, accomplished actor and devoted husband for 64 years, is a GOOD man to have backing a cause  :)

I'll throw a shoe at the annoying cat, but if it's an un-welcome, human intruder, he'll have to answer to the 45  ;)

I know it's never going to go away, but we "Brits" from the Homeland this side of the Pond can never really understand our American Cousins and their fascination for "Guns".

Not all of us Fozzer, this "we Brits" had to hand over some fine machinery when the government jerked it's knee many years ago.........and got sod all in compensation I may add!. I grew up in the countryside and started shooting when I was about seven years old. It progressed to a sport that I was rather good at...........well if representing your country means anything. Then over night it was all gone. Back in the day there was about 132,000 licenses. That does not reflect the number of guns though. One Chit, many guns. After the ban, people just changed the guns that they shot for ones they could. The ownership of handguns is not completely illegal in the UK as people seem to think. There are a few game wardens that are licensed and the ownership and use of black powder handguns is legal (licensed of course). License numbers to day are in the same region that they where back when the ban came in place. Take into account then number of people that are members of clubs, but do not have a license and that number increases quite a bit, in fact to around 700,000 people with an interest in shooting in one form or another. A number that is of quite an importance to out business community. At the end of the day, "we" (well not me, I am now in Germany and have got back my "machinery") are here, but we just don't shout about it.

You have to remember that America is a young country.

That got me to thinking.

I'll tell you what terrifies me.... (and I bet I will get slapped down for mentioning it... :'(...)...is the comparison of African American "Gangsters" in Los Angeles, Oakland, New York, etc, etc, which I see every day in the U.S. News, who now appear on the streets in our major Cities in England, wiping out each other with their various fire-power weaponry, and anyone else who happens to be around at the time... :'(...!

Those are the sort of individuals that bring overall, genuine, Gun ownership into disrepute...and their number is growing daily!

Maybe it's just me.....but for a quiet life, "guns" of various sorts have no particular fascination for me...
I find mowing the garden Lawn much more satisfying than shooting the crap out of a Coca-Cola Can on a fence with a Colt '45...or whatever...;)...!

Paul...I've git a brick...now where's that bloody Cat gone to?...  :evil...!

..... ;D....!

It terrifies me, too. I've lived in and worked in, some of the biggest cities in America.. sometimes having to spend time in; or pass through these war-zones. It's scary and frustrating. But this is a relatively recent development. And it's a societal thing. Not a gun thing. The guns have always been readily available here.. always.

The goblins who perpetuate this stuff, are by definition, law-breakers. They wouldn't obey laws banning guns, anymore than they obey laws against selling drugs, or killing eachg other. The only thing that new, restrictive gun laws accomplish, is to dis-arm LAW-abiding citizens.

The main reason that the gun-banning movement, that got a head of steam going 15 years ago, fell apart, is because fact ruled out over emotion. And as gun violence actuall FELL in states that started allowing law-abiding citizens to not only own, but carry weapons... the arguments in favor of banning guns, had no leg to stand on.

Florida was one of the first states to allow concealed carry. The effect was so dramatic (because Florida is a huge tourist state), that rental car companies had to stop using license plates or decals that identified their cars as rentals. The Floridian Goblins knew that tourists weren't as likely to be armed, as Florida natives.. and they had to start targeting those visitors.

...he's right you know, Chums... :o..!

The last Bloke to get caught carrying a chair leg in a bag, got shot as dead as the flippin' proverbial Dodo Bird* by our magnificent Armed Police Force... :o...!

So beware....A chair leg looks very much like a Kalashnikov Rifle....(from a distance)...

A "Spud Gun" looks very much like a 9mm Glock** to the uninitiated....

Be afraid...be VERY afraid... :o...!

Depending on which aisle you're in at the local Tesco you could probably mount a pretty formitable defense against the police.  After all, you're surrounded by ammo!

......Russian rifle v Spud gun...mmm..peashooter as backup...better just leave it to the Armed Police.....they are just as likely to shoot themsleves...........commoner ;D ;D

I think this is a very profound statement. [quote][i]Gill Marshall-Andrews, chair of the Gun Control Network, said: "The lesson is that people get injured when there are guns around

I don't own any guns, I own relics of the past. So in my reality I qualify my "guns" as "art" and am hereby protected from any silly anti-gun laws that may be passed.
