That is the cause of the problem. Too much choice. It was much better when transmission was limited to a few hours in the evening. TV is now broadcast 24/7 (how I hate that expression) on hundreds of channels throughout the world. There are even 24-hour news channels although I have no idea why that should be necessary. There is only so much news to report. It's possible to watch TV all day & all night if you wish (I believe that many people actually do this ::)). There is simply not enough original material available so to fill the schedules most of it obviously has to be repeats or complete & utter rubbish.

If Britain or Hungary wins I'll die of shame (and to avoid the endless rounds of some Hungarian half-wit on telly incessantly) ;D

My grandparents have DirectTV with a few hundred channels, but even when I was living with them I didn't watch much. It always annoyed me how everyone else in the family would settle for anything to watch on the TV, no matter how dumb it was, or if they had seen that show/movie/episode many, many times. Luckily, I have my noise canceling headset.

And even though I'm in my own apartment and only get half a dozen tv channels with my antenna, I watch about the same amount of television than I did when I was living with my grandparents and DirectTV...

I think they just enjoy people trying to sing in English who've clearly never learned the language...

So it's exactly like American Idol! :D

There is only one show that I really like on TV now, and that's Lost. Other than that, I might watch the occasional cop/detective type show or the news. I actually stopped watching TV all together for about a year, I think I started again because I got bored. :P

Also, I just heard on the news that the writers strike is supposed to be over on Monday.
