Polands strangest soldier

Postby ozzy72 » Fri Jan 25, 2008 9:17 am

All I can say is I hope they put up a monument to this one. I've seen some strange stories of animals in war and the like but this one rates as the strangest I've come across :o

"He liked a cigarette, he liked a bottle of beer - he drank a bottle of beer like any man."

thats my kind of bear!

weird story yet remarkable... especially as their is no mentioning of anyone getting mauled when they told him he had had enough beer ;D ;D

It would have taken a few brave MPs to arrest that 'soldier' ;D

You know, some would say this is animal cruelty.  But, on the other hand, this bear had companionship, food, beer, and got to travel rather extensively.  I am thinking that if he weren't up for it, he just would have eaten the C/O.  ;)

Good for that bear!  And, good for those soldiers who were his buddies!  That is just one dang fascinating story!

Now, if I could just get my cat to drink beer and carry out the rubbish . . .

This has been mooted as a possible movie. However I expect most people are blissfully unaware that a similar story has already been on the small screen (AFAIK it was never on general release).

The WWI story, A Bear Named Winnie - and that was bear who's name would end up considerably more famous! ;D
