Anyone know anything about toys?

Fist off, the object is in terrible shape and is it probably beyond repair.

If it were in resonable shape, there may be a small market for it amoung esoteric aviation  memoribila collectors,etc

Anyway, any "antique" must be profersionally restored and/or cleaned or the object will decrese in vaule, somtimes substantially.

Finally, even a  old and rare object can be almost valueless
if it is reduced to a pile of junk like the  object in question.

I would just give him your offer an leave it at that.
I seriously doubt that anyone will pay even close to $1000 for it.
You may be the higest bidder.
