I have some sympathy for these people. My only concern is, how many claims are from those who took the advice to get out of New Orleans when they were told. And how many are from people upset they got stuck there. Those are the people I have no sympathy for. They were given pleanty of time, warnings and even offered help if they couldn't get themselves out.

I lived in New Orlerans, I love that place , I cryed after the dissaster, ands still hurts as 9/11 , But does USA have that quantity? I don't think For Nox has it , I don't know how to claim this quantity even in my lenguage, Really if you divide this money into 300.000 millon people ,every single one of them would became Millonaraire (300.000.000) USA population , I think the media has exagerated ,and a lot

This is the problem when a country is prosperous enough to have this many lawyers.

It's going to slow down the processing for people who have legitimate, legal claims,

can some one please divide  this $3,014,170,389,176,410 into 300.000.000

just knock off 8 decimal places and divide by 3...

30,141,703 / 3 = 10,047,234

Riiigggghhhttt.  I hope this one gets tossed out of court.   Let's see: voters vote to approve a bond to equip their city with flood walls rated for a CatIII hurricane.  A Cat IV hurricane hits.  Voters sue... God?  Who else could possibly be to blame?  The court should find the people of New Orleans are at fault for the suffering of the people of New Orleans and order that the People of New Orleans pay the people of New Orleans the money.  Oh, by the way, it will be taxed.  :)  What's the taxes on three quadrillion dollars?

Funny how the city, county and state governments have forgotten about their roles in this mess.

Good ole Ray Nagin had hundreds of buses at his disposal and let them sit idle. He failed to declare a state of emergency as did the county, as did the state, until it was way to late.

The Army Corps of Engineers told New Orleans a decade or more ago that the levees were a disaster waiting to happen, Money was made available for the repairs. The local authority decided to spend the money to build a new road that made it easier for tourists to reach their gambling casinos instead.

This law suite has so many holes in it that it should sink quickly.... ::)

I think that this is the risk for living below sea level, it is one you should learn too accept, and in a way they called it over themselves, the natural marshlands that were there too catch up the flood water from storms was disappearing in a alarming rate, giving the water no place too go but up the river.

Dont get me wrong it is a terible tragedy, but in the end unevitable, the water will always reclaim what once was lost. Here, in The Netherlands we  have a flooding plan that purposely floods certain area's, were people live, too keep bigger urbanized area's safe.

Well imagine how many hurricanes New Orleans would have survived if the US Army Corp of Engineers, hadn't built any levees at all. It would have been destroyed years ago.... I don't think you can really blame the Corp.

Note, I'm not saying that I don't feel sympathy for the people there, just that there is no one you could really blame (besides maybe god)....

Unfortunately today the courts are commonly used as the mechanism to turn sympathy in to dollars.  There's no better way to get rich quick than to have a sad story and someone to sue.
