You're not the only American here Bob, in fact you're in the majority. It is just we Europeans have been teaching your fellow countrymen the powers of sarcasm and generally corrupting them ;D

Bah... I accidently broke my collar on my first ever run when snowboarding... I didn't sue anyone, there is no point. Accidents happen and you cant go pointing the blame finger when you are taking part in a dangerous activity when it could have so easily been you in the other person's position.

(By the way, the reason it broke was because it was a fairly steep and long hill and that I am used to skateboarding- never been snowboarding before- and jumping off the deck just doesnt happen. I am still to learn how to stop without getting a visit to the hospital and six weeks in a sling  ;D. It was great fun though, but took me a while to be able to move my fingers from the pain.)

People view injury like they view a winning lottery ticket.  They see dollar signs and no reason that they shouldn't cash it in.  They forget about the whole "personal responsiblity" thing.

Indeed... the lawsuit is likely to just be for a quick bit of cash rather than any long term damages...

I would be suprised if the people had to pay any more (if anything) than the cost of the medical care to get the leg un-broken.
