Redskins Player Killed

Postby G-Fire25 » Tue Nov 27, 2007 4:47 pm

As many of you probably already know, Sean Taylor died earlier this morning after being shot in the leg by an intruder. It was a big loss for the NFL. The bullet hit the main artery in the thigh area and he died from blood loss.

yea, we heard yesterday morning after he was shot and that he died early this morning in the hospital. The Redskins' practice field is near my home and lots of redskins fans live here. He was the driving force behind their defense and was tied for the lead in the NFC in interceptions....

Very sad what happened...

While its a sad situation, and as a broncos fan I can relate with the shooting of D-will in the new year.
I however think sadly this was going to happen to this young man. He has priors for shootings and ilegal possesion of a fire arm.

Very sad.  I'm about 10 miles straight north of where this happened; it's been all over the local news.  We have to now hope they catch the perpetrator, might be difficult.  There was a fatal cop shooting in the county just north of here in August, have not caught that one either.  It's scary to know that there are very dangerous criminals loose around town.

Quote from Yahoo! Sports...

...Taylor and his girlfriend were awakened by loud noises, according to family friend Richard Sharpstein, who learned the details from Taylor's girlfriend, Jackie Garcia. He said Taylor grabbed a machete he keeps in the bedroom for protection. Someone then broke through the bedroom door and fired two shots, one missing and one hitting Taylor, Sharpstein said. Neither Taylor's daughter, Jackie, nor Taylor's girlfriend were injured in the attack.

The bullet damaged the femoral artery in Taylor's leg, causing significant blood loss. Taylor never regained consciousness, Sharpstein said, and the news that he had squeezed a nurse's hand late Monday only proved to give false hope.

"Maybe he was trying to say goodbye or something," Sharpstein said....

...Police had no description of a possible suspect and were investigating whether the shooting was connected to a break-in at Taylor's home eight days earlier, in which police said someone pried open a front window, rifled through drawers and left a kitchen knife on a bed....

I also heard unconfirmed reports that the intruders cut the house's phone line before breaking in the night he was shot...

Miami Dade Police Director Robert Parker today issued a statement to the effect that he believes that this was a random act of violence, and that the phone lines were not cut, as originally reported.  He also said that more than one individuals were involved in the break in.  The funeral is set for Monday.
