..been observing it from my trusty Cessna 182...>>>

F...G-BPLF... 8-)...!

According to todays news, it's getting REALLY serious!

P.S. ..it's a funny old do, but every hot, dry year when California suffers it's regular Wild Fires, I always notice on the news videos and photographs, that the residents ALWAYS build their houses in amongst lots of trees and shrubbery!!...
...asking for trouble....and never learn...!

The wild fires in the Lake Tahoe Forest region earlier this year, was a classic example..!

I actually live a couple miles away I believe me this is serious. There is ash raining down on us like tiny snowflakes at times when the wind shifted. People with lung problems are filling up hospitals and are kinda in a panic. The sun was blocked out by a yellow sheet of dust and smoke so the whole day the sun color was like a yellow lamp. Smells of burning grass and timber filled the air. The fire has created it's own weather system adding to the Santa Anna winds.

I live about 10mi away and those are the effects. I wounder when they are calling in that DC-10 to put a water drop. Conditions are not healthy here these days.

Yesterday, we dispatched one of our Mars waterbombers to aid in the situation.......hope it helps .........after all, no single piece of equipment will fix the problem, but together with lots of others, maybe we can see this some under control soon......... :-/

It's not cheap at $12,000 an hour during flight operations, but for these kind of missions, price is the least concern when so may people are losing everything they have.......... :'(

I am thankful to see all the help they are receiving in SoCal.  My heart is there because of my Sister. I called her last night and she said that they are still o.k. but, that fires are closer.  They have a cabin in NoCal that they took all they're important things to as it is in no danger from the fires.  I will be calling her again tonight to see how everything is going.  My prayers are going out to her and all the others that have lost anything or are in harms way.

My brother lives in the city and although he's not in any danger (miles of urban area around him) he has a lot of friends and co-workers effected.  One of his co-worker is the last person in his family with a home.  His parents', in-laws', and sister's homes al burned.  He says there's a company bulletin board filled with people offering up spare bedrooms and people snatching them up as a place to stay while they're evacuated.  The entire office is working on nothing but making arrangements for fellow employees.  I had a conference call scheduled with a co-worker in San Diego and she had to cancel because she was told to evacuate her home that morning.  It's really amazing.

They'll pull through in the end.  It's not the first bad fire they've had and won't be the last.  It's amazing to go out there and see just how much burn-able stuff there is.  It's like living in a giant powder keg.

Looks like they are making progress with all the help they are getting from the National Guard and surrounding cites. The weather is much better today (hot) and it is finally a bit sunny. The ash and smell is still there though.

I am always amazed how much man-made "rubbish" is left laying around in some of the larger California Towns and Cities, apart from the usual unkempt vegetation!

Built-up areas all round San Francisco and the Bay area are typical areas.

All major fire hazards!

The Videos and photographs which I receive regularly from Southern California illustrate the problem.
If you look carefully, it's also noticeable in many of the (Hollywood) Films which are made, covering the areas.

The City Officials don't seem to be aware of the possible dangers, and take the trouble clean the Towns and surrounding areas up.

Dry scrub, bordering roads and surrounding properties, apart from the rubbish, can be seen everywhere, and as California suffers from hot dry Summers every year, a fire accident is always waiting to happen!

Having an (unhealthy?) interest in the State of California....;)...I receive daily, the local newspapers, photographs, and video news from around the State, posted to me via the Internet, so that I do a comparison with the cleanliness/tidiness of their Cities, and compare them to my Towns and Cities.

I may be wrong, but SOCAL seems to be a much greater overall fire hazard than England... ::)...!
(England is about the same size as the State of California)..;)...!

F....getting all fired-up... ;D..LOL...!

....Why do Cal residents build their (wooden) homes in the middle of Forests, surrounded by Trees and  dry Scrub?... :o...!

Lake Arrowhead, in the San Bernadino National Forest has suffered badly.....(Sim flew over it yesterday).
