Man dies after 3 days playing games

Postby llamedos » Mon Sep 17, 2007 9:22 pm

According to CNN

They won't say what he was playing but maybe he was waiting for FSX to load?

Maybe he tried to download something from Flightsim.com? Just joking ofcourse. What kind of person will play online games for three days straight? I get bored after an hour or so.

Crash ;)

Woah...That's very interesting...I can manage 15-17 hour long FS flights, but that's about it...How this guy pulled 72 hours, I don't got a clue :o :o

Died of exhaustion.....by sitting on your rear and having a mouse in your right hand  ;D. Lets hope that he never has to wait for a doctors appointment in the UK, he would really have a problem, oh, wait he is already dead.

I can just about manage a one hour flight in a Multiplayer Tour, and about an hour as a solo flight...
...and that is only because I always fly at low/very low level, and therefore can enjoy looking at the scenery below me, en-route.. :)...!
Any longer and I rapidly loose interest, switch off, and go onto "other things"... ::)...!

How anyone can enjoy sim-flying at an altitude of 40-50,000 feet ASL over a vast Ocean for hours on end in a Passenger Jet  is completely beyond my comprehension....;)...!

I switch the computer on first thing in the morning, have a peek at my mail, then get on to doing all the normal things that one does in daily life, occasionally browsing the computer in between, for anything which may be of interest....( a quick spot of "Simming?)....::)...

F... 8-)...!

I seriously douby my pc would be able to handle a day of straight gaming, let alone 3 days

I usually turn on the auto pilot and let the sim run itself...I leave the computer alone the entire time and watch TV, cook food, go out for a walk...I don't use ATC on long-haul because ATC constantly vectors you all over the place...So once, I am established on the final heading, I cancel IFR and let the aircraft fly...Once I'm, say, 150 miles out, I re-open my flight plan and click no when it asks me if I want to move the aircraft to the departure airport listed...Then, it's easy following ATC instructions see-ing as there are only 30 minutes or so in the flight left...It's fun flying long-haul and ultra long-haul...You should try it sometime Tweek ;) ;)

I have heard this before. It seems that this isn't the first time. There was an article a while ago about a man died after playing for like 3 days also.
:o

I can only manage around 1hr of gaming. The longest I have played BF2 was 2hrs and it gave me a big headache after that so this is kinda amazing.

I'd rather do the flying myself (in a much shorter timescale) than tell a computer keep me going in a straight line for several hours. ;D

The only thing fun about a long haul flight is going and doing something else...

My thoughts exactly but each to their own.

I often wonder what happens if after flying all that way on autopilot you mess up the landing. Do you go back & start all over again until you get it right? ::)

Auto- what/who? Aside from the fact that I'm using CFS1, occasionally CFS2 and, rarely FS98 or FS2k2, I've even done a time quad to keep my flight under an hour. Why would I want to let my computer pretend to fly the plane all day long by itself?
If I'm going to start up my flight simulator, then I'd ought-'o-pilot!
;)

Died after only three days of straight gaming?!?  I have only one, insensitive, callous, macabre, funny thing to say:

NOOB!
