New World's Tallest Building

It's in Dubai.  It doesn't look like much, but maybe it'll actually look pleasing to the eye when completed.

520 meters and still growing...

someone said 800 meters but i think they'll go for 1001.

Should be a nice place for planespotting... its on the side of the OMDB approach path so you can photograph flying planes from above

I was frustrated when the Petronas towers stole the title from the Sears tower.  Sears had the highest occupied floor and tip to ground was actually taller, but Sears's antenna aren't considered part of the building while Petronas' masts are (since they're architectural).

Now it's nice to see a building legitimately take the title from the Sears tower.  There ain't no complainin' that THAT thing isn't the tallest.  It's got the title by a long shot.

I like this sort of stuff.. I've seen the NatWest tower and Canary Wharf and it's environs being built in London and it's always held an interest to me.
But this thing is going to be 3 or maybe even FOUR times the height of both of those...

Wow..  :o

OK, who will be the first designer to model that into Flight Simulator and put a heli-pad on it?

More seriously, I wonder how deep it goes . . .

Cheers for the links SB  :)

The first one has the nickname "helter skelter" .. It's easy to see why!
The second one has been in planning for YEARS, it has had plenty of problems as it is to be built directly over London Bridge train and tube station, therefore requiring an entire redevelopment of the station as well.
