Some of the most disgraceful people in the UK...

Postby C » Thu Jul 19, 2007 6:08 am

...and they all live in a very affluent area:

Nimby neighbours' war with wounded soldiers' families

Maybe next time one of their relatives gets their arm/leg blown off, then they should not be allowed to visit, as they might upset the "locals" near the hospital. An utter disgrace, showing total disrespect to those who put their life on the line everyday in their name... >:(

Yeah the affluent in the US are equally as obtuse when it comes to charity. Its a shame, I hope they do buy that home for the families.

that is disgusting.... how can anyone be so selfish as to not allow that development.
some people need to learn what exactly it means to be british, and have some pride in their nation and armed forces

If they're not allowed the additional homage, how about other visitors bring their own chairs and join visitors with wheelchairs in lining up in waiting along the entire block (perhaps a few umbrellas and pitch tents for bad weather or longer stays). ::)

Wow... that's a new low. It really shouldn't matter what one thinks of this war or war in general; those wounded veterans and their families deserve a warm welcome. It's the very least any community can do for them.

I'm looking forward to learn what you think is valid about the point made by the nimby neighbors.

It happens everywhere...

...there are alot of people here in Grosse Pointe who would not sell houses to Blacks and Jews...

...and I don't blame them, the houses here are terribly over priced and I would hate to see the value of my house suddenly get halved overnight. ::)

...I personally don't give a crap, if they got money, thats good enough for me...but I'm sure my neighbors do.

Those people should be put up against a wall and shot for not showing respect to our armed forces and the sacrifices they've made >:(

How about everyone who lives in that area make a little detour any time they're near by and drive through the neighborhood with their horn blaring.  :)

Increased road traffic.

And regarding that "serving the country" argument: They did it voluntarily and they knew the risks. No reason for making them more important than any other people then.

The fact that they have served their country of their own volition, knowing the risks, makes them more important than the nimbys complaining about half a dozen extra cars in the area.

So, public roads are available for the public use.   ::)

Does the words respect and honor have any meaning to you?

Show me a soldier who honestly wants to serve for his country and I'll show you a flying elephant.

You join up the army voluntarily for one or more of those reasons:

- Weapons
- A safe job (minimal danger of unemployment)
- Money
- Because it's the army and the army is cool (aka ego boosting)

So, public roads are available for the public use.  ::)

Well, but you can complain about increased traffic anyways.
And a house full of families ain't the quietest thing as well.

Does the words respect and honor have any meaning to you?

No.
