For Crying out loud! The administration hates me! First they take the F-15s from Otis, They accept the Super Hornet, They went on a UAV frenzy, they retire my 3rd love in life and now they shred them?!?   I'm going to buy some F-14 stuff at ebay now!

I say we reactivate the F-14's. Then we could load them up with all kinds of bombs and blow Iran off the face of the planet. [smiley=evil.gif] Then we would not have to worry about them getting into the wrong hands.

I saw a special on this.
Basically the US sold F-14's to other countries with some major parts missing that are very crucial to the workings of the F-14's.
All the enemy would need to do is get their hands on the "missing" parts and they would have a fully functional F-14!  :o

People have been smuggling F14 parts out of America to Iran for over 20 years. It wasn't all that hard and you really are kidding yourself if you think it couldn't happen.

Sad , why can't they put them in a high security area or something, like some of the planes there can be re-actived if they are needed. Well they say history repetes it's self, look at WWII fighter planes and bomber that were the best of their day, after they retired, they were discarded like yesterdays trash

Yes, but look on the bright side. There's a large number of WW2 aircraft flying today, and it isn't utterly fancifult to say that that may be the case with the F-14 in a few years time, with some care and restoration. There's bound to be some gutted F-14's lying about that they've missed...

Here's to the F-14, and in anticipation of it's return as a fully-fledged warbird.

Hey if the Collings foundation can save an F-4D, TA-4, B-17, and plenty other flyable birds then they can buy an F-14.
