God I wish they would ban bottled water in NYC. Its so useless over here, considering the way the tap tastes.

I love tap considering that I hate freezing cold water. Its so convenient when you can turn a knob and have great water come right out :P... to me.. much easier than traveling to buy a bottle of water that wont even last you that long

I don't understand when people express their preference, they then advocate banning the alternative.

They've run out of things that actually do need to be got rid of, but they don't want to lose their cushy jobs, so they invent problems with the world. Beaurocracy. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! >:( >:( >:(

i buy bottles water, its great when im climbing cos its cold and the climbing centre gets bloomin warm! plus its only 50p so as cobra (i think it was) said, its hardly going to break the bank is it now.

i drink bottled water when out and about, but if im at home i just use the old tap :) although i must admit, bottles does taste nicer 90% of the time.

My favourite bottled water also happens to contain malted barley and hops....

The only problem that I can see with bottled water is all of those little plastic bottles that take like 2000 years to break down in a land fill. On the other hand that's what landfills are for. If the bureaucrats are really worried about the environment, then they should work on implementing a better recycling system instead of inconveniencing people by banning a popular product. Also, is it possible to create a more "environmentally friendly" plastic bottle? One that breaks down more readily yet doesn't get dissolved by the water it's containing?

Personally, I don't like tap water, but just accept that it tastes bad. I buy bottled water sometimes when I'm working because it's convenient. Here

Ah, water... I could talk hours about it...

Many people here claim that tapwater is as pure as bottlewater... I would agree with that, if your tap was placed just outside the drinkwater facility. However, there is no control over the tubes in wich it is transported to the customers! In Belgium some houses still contail lead-pipes! So the waterdistributers use chlorine to desinfect the water, wich can give a less pleasant smell and taste, but that still doesn't protect you from any other form of contamination, like lead or other chemicals...

On the other hand, tapwater is way more controlled than bottlewater...

awww, come-on!

drinking chlorinated water through lead pipes is a small price to pay to save the planet!

Bottled water is much better.  They should ban tap water.

Totally. Think of all the water that wouldn't be wasted in burst pipes etc  ;) I would shower with Evian if it was possible  ;D

Yeah, at least with tap water you're guaranteed to get the same crappy tasting, chemically infested water every time you open the valve.  With bottled water you never know whether you'll get really good water or just plain good water.

My teeth are actually stained for life because the town I grew up in as a little kid decided to add Flouride to the tap water to promote healthy teeth.  Thanks.
