Banning Bottled Water

Postby murjax » Sun Jun 24, 2007 6:18 pm

Yep, this is the third stupid ban I have seen in just a matter of days. When are the common sense people going to come out and stop this insanity?

I assume you mean this? San Francisco says no to bottled water

Sounds like a good idea to me. I never understood the fad for bottled water in the first place. People must have more money than sense.

makes sense to me also....

Why waste money and time to get water that is essentially the same to tap? Unless you get some kind of swedish springs mountain water, there is no difference.

Remember this fiasco? http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/3809539.stm

If I'd suggested 20 years ago that people in this country would be daft enough to pay through the nose for a plastic bottle of drinking water they would have sent for the men in white coats. ::)

Here in the UK the quality of the tap water is far higher than that of bottled water, the level of  impurities that are allowed in the bottled water are greater than  those allowed in tap water. That's what would make the fiasco in Hagar's second post funny ....... if it wasn't so true

However bottled water is convenient sometimes .....my wife and I tend to buy the sports bottles for when we walk the dog in the summer (they're lighter than kids water bottles) and reuse them with tap water untill they become beyond repair. We also keep a couple of bottles in the car ...... once again reusing untill they are no longer viable.

*Takes a sip from water bottle*

Must be a cultural thing. 'Though our water is excellent, only a small percentage of germans use tap water for drinking, while most of the French do.

It's fine to use bottled water as long as you have a working recycling system.

Bottled water tastes far nicer, and for those that don't have a water dispenser in the fridge it means you can have it nice and chilled all the time + its hardly gonna break the bank is it?

LOL!  San Francisco mayor, Gavin Newson says banning bottled water in city buildings will help stem global warming.  I think that term has gone chic.  If you have a pet project, just say it will help stem global warming and it'll pass with flying colors.   ::)
