Mini 2 channel helicopters batteries

Postby hsvfan » Sun Jun 17, 2007 6:29 pm

Hi all
I have been considering buying a cheap 2 channel micro helicopter just for a rainy day Boredom buster.
all seem to have a Li-Poly Battery which has about a 8 minute flight duration and take about 20-30 minutes to recharge.
Question is could the Li-Poly Battery be replaced with something like a AAA battery to give it more flight time

Cheers

I have a bit of experience with those micro-helis, and first off you want to get either the Airhogs Havoc, or the Silverlit Picoo-Z. They are the exact same product, just marketed by two different companies. Don't buy a knock off, it's about the same as buying pirated pay-ware for FS, and the quality of a knock-off is often very poor.

With that out of the way- No, you couldn't replace the LiPo with a AAA. The voltage wouldn't be the same, and a AAA would be much heavier. They make them with built in LiPos because those are very light-weight and hold a lot power or run time for their size. The 8-10 minutes of flight that you get out of a Picoo-Z may not seem like much, but at this state of technology it's about the best that can be done for $30. But hey, you could always buy two or three of them to keep flying. ;)

Hi
There is a supplier here in New Zealand that has them on trade me (our version of ebay) for a buy now for $54.00
I have looked at his feed back and early reports point to people been very happy with this mini helicopter
The only brand details are EXCITING helicopter infrared series
I do like the scale look of the models

That's cool, I'de say go for it. ;) Also if you like scale looks, I just heard about this one on an R/C forum that I frequent. I think it will be my next R/C purchase. :)

I would say go with a four channel micro heli.  That way you can get away with cheap motors and you could still fly it inside.  I mean you can barely fly a plane with two channels (sailplane with one for elevator and one for rudder).  Just my opinion  ;D.

four channel = a lot of money  ;)

There are some that are the same size as the ones we are talking about here, but they costs about $300 US. check out http://www.precisionheli.com/. I have a 4 channel Heli-max Axe EZ, but it's a bit larg to fly in the house. It can't handle much wind, but luckily a freind of mine owns a buisiness that has plenty of room. When they are closed, it is my personal indoor flying field. ;)
